Right To Die Conference 2014

WORLD FEDERATION CONFERENCE ON THE RIGHT TO DIE

The conference in Chicago of about 250 was sparsely attended
Considering many organizations from 31 countries were represented.

Some countries were far ahead
In laws and methods of allowing someone’s death

In every state, region or nation
It took years of legislation.

Others did confess.
That they have had no success.

Some Organizations lack structure
And did or  stand a chance to again rupture

Some organizations are new
And not all have the same mission or view.

There is more than one flaw
Some actions they perform are against the law,

For many years the leadership has not changed
And only lawful information should be exchanged.

I believe no methods should be preached
Until the appropriate law is passed or reached

For the acceptable bill
That respects  peoples individual choice or  last will

Demonstrators  at the convention they could prevent
If more time with the public  was spend.

A group of severely handicapped
With a name “not dead yet”

Paraded in and outside the hotel
And obviously had not been informed very well

Positive public awareness they did not bring
While chanting “we do not do ‘The suicide thing'”

But it is imperative to listen to  everyone’s voice
While “promoting individual choice”

A “right to die” we all ready have when born
It is for dying with “dignity” we need to promote  a norm.

Presentations of “Volunteer death counselors”   Promoting drugs from thugs on line
Send chills down my spine

Or assisting in death via a helium mask
Is also an unlawful  gruesome  task

But until the majority of the public is on board
And are in accord

In approving a legalized ” last will pill “
Instant death is legally not available for the  ill.

So the violence and atrocities will continue here and there
Until their is a legal road for when and where

Till then unlawful practices should be prosecuted
Till safe guards are instituted

For now we can thank legislation that we can have palliative care
That is now available in the USA everywhere

To allow a terminal patient  to die “not instantly”
But “inevitable” while surrounded by loved ones without pain and with dignity

Public education is not an easy task
Opposition groups spend money and have many questions to ask

I support a change in laws
To resolve all current flaws

For a legal way out ..without  pain and fear
For people that have decided they no longer want to remain here.
