Huntington Library

VISITING THE HUNTINGTON LIBRARY

A quality Sunday afternoon,
Was over to soon.

Surrounded my many plants in bloom,
We had high tea in a famous library room.

An elegant way to spend,
Such a unique birthday present.

This afternoon with my sisters in law,
Had no flaw.

While driven in a new car on the way,
It was raining and grey.

But as we neared,
the clouds disappeared.

Looking at the decorations it was clear,
The Huntington was celebrating the snake of the Chinese New Year.

The Chinese ‘garden of flowing fragrance” glory,
Can not be expressed in a short poem or story

Scrolling the Japanese village on a knoll
Was food for our soul

The mansion with beautiful antique
Was elegant and chique

We walked trough a variety of landscapes with many different plants,
That are natives of foreign lands.

Having to drive home without our mate
Was the reason we did not leave to late

But they were with us each step of the way
On this beautiful day

Ans thank you, your beautiful gift
Gave us an emotional lift.
