SPORTS IN MY LIFE
I never attended a school that had a gym
Maybe that is why I was never slim!
A game sport I never participated in
And I did not experience the excitement to loose or win.
When I grew up…biking was not considered a sport.
But to get to places back and forth
Walking was the other means of transportation
And skating in winter was a real sensation.
Swimming in clear water…we were not able.
I learned to swim in a murky river holding onto a cable.
Since moving to California we always had a home with a pool
From then on swimming in clear water was the rule.
Sailing became a family affair
Together…John and I were a capable pair.
But no matter what tip
Without help…I could not get our vision 32 in or out of the slip,
How to snow ski I soon knew
But I was in my thirties and my daughters were surprised “old people can learn to ”
How to water ski I learned behind our ski boat on lake Arrowhead
But for my style not much can be said!
Tennis lessons I took for one season on a Diamond Bar court
But it was to exhausting in the heat to run back and forth
And life was busy then
No time to think about play…where or when
For golf I have my own clubs and a cart
But hitting the ball in a hole is very hard.
But occasional you can still seeā¦
Me play a game with my family
What I always did the best…and still do…is walk
And walk and walk …without talk
To stay limb…
And not become a blimp
I walk to places that are within reach
From my desert home or condo on the beach.
In closure…
This summed up my sports exposure.
