KOTA KINABALU MALAYSIA BORNEO
Few of us knew…
About Kota Kinabalu
And who would have thought I would ever go…
To Malaysia on Borneo
We were greeted with a singing and dancing show
On this Sunday…life seemed relaxed and slow.
As “land below the wind” they are known…
Because they are below the typhoon zone.
Free of NATURAL disasters…
But wiped out in WWII by Japanese flying masters.
But a new modern city replaced the old
And it is “Borneo at its best” we are being told
30 races make up the 3 million population…
An harmonious cultural mosaic creation.
We climbed in an original longhouse and enjoyed the story telling
About the history of this bamboo multi family dwelling
But it is a pity
That thousands also here live in Kampongs on the water outside the City
But people we are told are content
Because they pay very low rent.
We saw Orangutans put on a show…
Of which thirteen thousand still live in Borneo.
Then it was time to go…
And leave exotic Borneo.
