FLAT IN ENSCHEDE 1963-1973
We married in 1963
And we were happy as can be
To buy a flat
That had been built by John’s Dad.
John was employed by EBC,
A Developer Partnership entity.
His Dad was a partner in this organization
And suggested to John, that with his salary and profit proration,
He did feel…
That buying two units was a good deal.
His advice…
Turned out to be very wise.
Moving to the USA we did not yet envision,
But we made that decision…
After John’s parents returned from a California trip
They had made by ship.
Their stories about this sunny “Frontier Land”
Made us decide to leave rainy Holland.
His parents were sad to witness
John leaving the third generation Family Construction Business.
But because of John’s intuition,
He knew that eventually they would endorse his decision.
We realized that buying two flats had been smart,
Because this rental income gave us a head start.
One unit financed the down payment of our first home, in 1965, in the USA.
The second, in 1973, bought Arrowhead vacation home for weekend play.
