Roman Coliseum

DAY 77 – ROME

This is my third visit in what is also called “Eternal City”
Also known as Capital of the World or “Caput Mundi “
and very pretty

Thousands of people stood in line to enter…
The Vatican …which for the Catholic Faith… is “The Center “
Vatican
We toured the Vatican Museums and had much praise…
For the lavish displays …

Of wealth and art…
that have Religious and Cultural significances for a believers heart.

In the Sistine Chapel we stood elbow to elbow…
to view Masterpieces “Creation of the world” and “Last Judgment” by Michelangelo.

We toured St Peter’s Basilica and walked the square
With thousands of people that came from ‘everywhere”

After visiting the Museum…
We walked and climbed thru the Coliseum.

The grandest of Rome’s Monuments …
That it was built in the 1st century AD…is difficult to comprehend.

This amphitheater is a wonder of architecture and engineering …
And one can imagine still hearing the cheering …

Of the thousands of people that where thrilled…
Watching barbaric games…of animals and people being killed.

The games are over…but the people still come…
Because this City…is comparable to none.

Today the weather
Could not have been better

After a late lunch we again enjoyed the Italian Countryside
On our way back to the ship in Civitavecchia during another two hour drive.
