About Me

My name is Marie J. Temmink.

My poetry is an expression of my life experience, exposures, feelings, reality, or imagery in a couplet or two line rhyme.

My Poems are part of my life log “day to day by Marie Jose”.

Till date 9-29-2023, I have written 1710 1 page couplets and published 4 books before my daughter created my own website for everyone to have free, easy access to my writings.

I welcome your comments after reading a poem.

I was born Maria Josefa Martha Keijsers in 1940 in a small farming community called Wellerlooi in Limburg, The Netherlands.

I became a Registered Nurse in 1962 in Oldenzaal, The Netherlands.

I emigrated with my husband, Gerhard John Temmink, to the USA in 1964 and have lived in California since.  I have two daughters – Daphne and Colette.

I received my permanent California RN license in 1969 through USC Medical Center and obtained my Nursing Home Administrator license in 1973  through UCLA.  I received my California State Adult Teaching Credential in 1973.  I obtained my Public Health Nurse certification in 1984 through Cal State Fullerton.  I had a life-long career in healthcare.

My husband, Gerhard John, died in April, 1992.  I started my own home health staffing business, Associated Home Health Nurses of America in Long Beach, CA in August 1992, as well as its subdivisions (Neighborhood Home Health Services, a licensed home health agency, and Neighborhood Senior Care, an in-home supportive services company).  I retired in 2009.

I married Frans Verschoor, my second husband, in 1999.  He died in 2010.

I embarked upon worldwide travel and writing in my diary which I call “Day By Day By Marie Jose” and would like to share my experiences with family, friends, and the ones that can no longer travel.

I retired to Carlotta Ivy Living Retirement in an independent unit and continue writing and adding poems on a regular basis, so check in frequently to see what’s new.

Thank you.
