REALITY

Complaints at old age is nothing new,
I hear them from more than a few.

At 80, one friend has a colostomy,
Another has difficulty to see.

At 86, one just had back surgery,
But the outcome was no glory.

She is now in a dip,
After being told she now needs a new hip.

One friend at 79 often weeps,
Has been coughing for weeks.

She wonders how long she will have this to endure –
Antibiotics have so far been no cure.

One friend at 78 received the answer,
That she has metastasized breast cancer.

Some no longer act kind,
Because they have lost their mind.

For one friend, life was a breeze,
But now he copes with heart disease.

He is amazed….
To survive at 87 after a heart valve was replaced.

Life for most at old age is no longer great.
Especial after loosing their soulmate.

We learn to accept….
That miracles we do not need to expect.

Love and support is what the aged need,
Until from their agony they are freed.

The world continues, but we all know……
People come and go.

All the discomforts are a sign,
We are next in line.
