TURNING 51

Daphne, it is no misunderstanding…
this year ’til now for you has been demanding.

I understand
It is not what you had planned.

But without my persuasion,
You rose to the occasion

To live with me day and night –
A task not very light.

You gave up your private life and activities
And missed planned festivities.

An easy patient I was not,
Requesting the home temperature to be hot.

Cold air irritates and affects my facial nerve;
The side effects of the medication make me swerve.

But your calm soul
Tried to keep me in control –

A job not always funny,
But it paid decent money.

The Trigeminal neuralgia’s medication made me feel blue,
But I depended on you.

Being dependent,
I was lucky to have you as my attendant.

Your help from time to time, I still require;
As long as living at home, I can desire.

Let’s anticipate
To celebrate your birthday at a later date.

For today, we plan to have dinner in simple grace
at your choice of place.

After my recuperation,
We will plan a deserved vacation.
