Zwaan

ZWAAN (1934-2013)

Never saw you before,
Until I officially met you in 1964.

You immigrated here a few years earlier than me,
But when I arrived, you had not adjusted yet,…I could see.

From many activities you had to abstain,
Due to your ongoing back pain.

In 1971 I hired you at Dale wood Convalescent Hospital in Baldwin Park ,
Where you left your mark,

When you came twice a week to spend a day,
To mend and put patients clothing away.

They were sorry you did not stay,
When I moved a way.

I saw you on different occasions,
When we attended the same celebrations.

We kept up to date,
With each other’s fate.

Through the years we kept in touch,
But visit we did not much.

As it was never a bother,
To get an update from Connie, your daughter.

You experienced many tribulations,
In family relations.

You endured much pain,
When your only grandson was slain.

But your lovely granddaughters stuck to you like glue,
And adored you.

You have connected with your loved ones, that already paved the way,
Into heaven, were from now on, you to, will stay

Zwaan, you are now pain free and at ease,
May you for ever, rest in peace.
