His Career

HIS CAREER

My second husband, Frans Verschoor,
Another successful entrepreneur.

His first job in Rotterdam was shipping clerk,
Long before there was talk about a perk.

Long hours, minimum pay,
Be on time, don’t leave early, day after day.

When he left there he had no grieve,
Two years in the Dutch Army for him would be a relief
Evenflo
Upon discharge he was aglow,
When hired by an American company called Evenflo.

His talents were recognized soon,
Their job offer made him feel over the moon.

He was ready to go,
When they offered a position in Mexico.

His wife and two young children had to stay behind,
But they had a positive state of mind.

The price to pay to be an entrepreneur,
Was a year separation that they had to endure.

Communication was as slow as a snail,
Because the only way was by mail.
His Career
He worked in high gear,
Until his wife and children came after a year.

Their third child was born in Mexico,
By then he was called CEO.

Then after 12 years they had an inclination,
To move back for the children’s education.

Back to Holland by next Spring,
Where soon again he was directing.

This time with passion,
The latest clothing fashion.

Big salary, company car, but soon an ache
Because they realized they had made a mistake.

After a year all in the family did agree,
It was Mexico where they wanted to be.

There he had a chance
To build a new career in the tourist branch.

Great opportunity but one crutch,
Due to all the traveling he missed his family too much.

Back in Mexico City they tried something new,
And opened a restaurant specializing in fondue.

Also that was a success,
But they sold it for an opportunity in the US.

By an American company,
He was hired to manage theaters in Germany.

Life was not to shoddy,
Often on the autobahn enjoying his fast Audi.

His success was soon recognized,
And after five years a local bought the company for very high price.

But the parent company brought him back to LA,
We’re for the rest of his life he would stay.

His two oldest children stayed in Germany,
To finish the university.
His Career
For the next twenty years his name,
Was part of the Self Storage fame.

For Pacific theaters he developed this business sector,
And joined the National SSA as director.

Then after always having good luck,
Family tragedy struck.

His beloved wife Lucie after forty years at his side,
Endured two years of treatment but died.

Then there was a cordial greeting,
When he attended a Dutch American business meeting.

This union was meant to be,
When amidst family and friends he married a Dutch widow at sea..

He retired from Pacific theater after nearly 25 years,
For him once again it was changing gears.

A new challenge in life,
To work together with his new wife.

Their combined energy,
Expanded her home health industry.

Then again there was severe hurt,
When his youngest daughter left this earth.

But the union with his second wife,
Brought him many happy years for the rest of his life.

Second homes, travel, and fun,
Till his decline begun.

Obstacles he overcame all his life,
But for his last battle he had no more drive.

He was not alone,
When he died peacefully at home.

Surrounded by family and the best of care,
His body gone, but his spirit remains in the air.

This entrepreneur,
Is missed by many for sure.
