DOG LIFE 2014
I once wrote a poem about “Mans Best Friend”
But this one is about a noticeable change in trend.
When I grew up we had a St. Bernard
Who barked long and hard…
When strangers approached the farm
To keep us out of harm.
He slept in the barn
Like all dogs did that lived on a farm.
But the dogs in 2014 live in a different way
In a barn?…there…? no boss would let them stay!
I have heard it said
These days they share their masters bed!
The dogs of 2014 provide affection
Instead of protection
More and more people have difficulty to relate…
And no longer feel up to a human debate.
They rather spend time with their pooch
When they want to smooch.
They are loved very much
And handled with a caring touch
They are served gourmet food
Anything they do is thought to be cute.
They wear bows and nails are polished
After their neighbors yard they just demolished
Often we can hear…
Honey…come here!
But these spoiled dogs do not respond
They are busy trying to establish a bond
And try to meet
Every dog on their street
And soon they all run alone
While their bosses are on the phone
They have no time to greet
Let alone meet
Also no desire
They only communicate via wire
You guessed the sad new trend…
Instead of “Mans BEST Friend” dogs now appear to be “Mans ONLY Friend”.
